History
Since his salvation, sanctification, and subsequent filling with the Holy Spirit of God in 1975, Pastor Coles has worked steadfastly to maintain an unapologetic standard of holiness in his everyday life, thus he has shown himself an example of true servitude and dedication to both the believer and unbeliever in the person of Jesus Christ.
He shepherds both The Loving Church, whose name and operation embodies St. John 13:35 which says, “by this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another,” and Pure Gospel Church of God in Christ. Within the 1st Jurisdiction of Virginia Churches of God in Christ, Inc., Pastor Coles serves as Chairman of the Board of Education of the C.H. Mason System of Bible Colleges, member of the State Ordination Board, member of the State Trustee Board, Chairman of Auxiliaries in Ministry (A.I.M.), Superintendent of the Charlottesville/Roanoke Districts of Churches, and Administrative Assistant to the Bishop of Virginia #1 Churches of God in Christ, Inc.
His vision for ASCEND Ministries (Always Strive Care Endure and Never Doubt) is one of outreach: an Assisted Living ministry (“Blessed Antiquity”), Family Life ministry, Good Samaritan transitional housing ministry, Youth ministry, and Convalescence ministry all stemming out from the Sanctuary.
His professional and civic accomplishments are vast and include: past Vice President of Customer Support at Grayson Wireless Geometrix Division; Director of Strategic Projects and Business Research, and Director of International Operations and Sales at Comdial Telecommunications; and present service as Chairman of the African-American Parent Alliance of Albemarle County.
He founded the African-American Male Forum whose purpose it is facilitate the district’s outreach to black males. The forum focuses on unifying black males from all religious, non-religious, and socioeconomic backgrounds to discuss pertinent issues, formulate plans, and take action. Confident in the God-ordained role and necessity of a responsible man in black households, Pastor Coles is also spearheading a plan to reduce the incarceration rate of African-American males in our region.
